Staff report

North Central Texas Council of Governments announces that Amanda Gutierrez, office clerk for Walnut Creek Special Utility District, has completed a three month-long program for Municipal Finance for Non-Finance Executives. According to Todd Little, executive director of the program, “We believe it will be individuals like Amanda that will help keep our professionals at the forefront of municipal leadership in the DFW Region and across Texas. It will also be quality employers like Walnut Creek SUD who will continue to support the need for ongoing training and development in this essential field.”

This program served as the eighth season of developing current and future leaders in the public finance industry. It was an application/referral process whereby NCTCOG selected a cohort of 22 individuals to participate. Over the past three months, Amanda attended sessions to learn various aspects of the industry and take deep dives into critical issues of their job and responsibilities as a public official. The classes were daylong events, presented by experts in the field and facilitated by experienced professionals. Successful completion of the MFNF program required active participation in session discussions, homework, and contribution to a group project.
